26 April 2023 – COREWIND’s final event

COREWIND: Improving competitiveness of floating offshore wind through cost-reduction

The COREWIND project aims at achieving significant cost reductions and enhancing performance of floating wind technology through innovation and optimisation at all the phases of a project’s lifecycle (design, choice of components, operations & maintenance).

After 3 years, the COREWIND experts are ready to publish the final cost-reduction achieved thanks to the solutions developed within the project. These solutions comprise efficient design tools including innovative floating substructures, optimisation of mooring and anchoring system and dynamic cables, optimised O&M strategies and installation techniques.

9 February 2022 – Webinar: Breakthrough research for floating wind

Floating offshore wind is no longer consigned to the laboratory: it’s a viable technology ready to be rolled out on an industrial scale.

📆 9 February 2022 🕰 10:00-11:30 CET

Not only has the technology for floating offshore wind reached maturity, costs are also predicted to plummet with the development of the first commercial projects. The COREWIND project provides disruptive and cost-effective solutions for floating offshore wind technology, leading to costs lower than 100€/MWh.

This innovative project is developing research, modelling and optimization for concrete-based semi-submersible and spar floating structures concepts. Join floating offshore experts from IREC, INNOSEA, Ramboll, IHCantabria and other partners in COREWIND to know more!

21 April 2020 – Webinar: Learn about the latest innovations in floating offshore wind

Date: Tuesday, 21 April 2020, 15:00-16:00 CEST

Floating offshore wind has a huge potential which remains largely unexploited. Massive amounts of wind resources exist in deep waters (+60m) where an estimated potential capacity of 4000 GW could be installed. This would open the door to offshore wind installations for countries such as Norway, Spain or Portugal. One of the main drawbacks hindering floating offshore wind expansion is cost.

This technology is still relatively expensive with a LCOE well above bottom fix technology. Innovative responses to key challenges on mooring and anchoring technology, power cables interconnection and O&M strategies are essential to pave the way for cost-competitive floating offshore wind.

This workshop-style webinar will explore some of the solutions to these challenges together with experts, practitioners and captains of industry with insights from the COREWIND project (COst REduction and Increase Performance of floating WIND technology).
